The Fantastic Four (1967) Plot Summary

The Fantastic Four (1967) was an animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera productions, and debuted the same day as the classic 1967 Spider-Man animated show. This was one of only two animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera that was based on Marvel Comics characters. The program, featuring character designs by Alex Toth and lasted twenty episodes. The Fantastic Four was first created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. This was also one of several shows to be cancelled because of parental concern over TV violence in the 60s.

The Fantastic Four was: Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Ben Grimm (The Thing), Reed's wife Sue Richards (Invisible Woman) and Sue's little brother Johnny Storm (Human Torch).

The Fantastic Four gained their super powers after a experimental rocket ship designed by Reed Richards and piloted by Reed's friend, Ben Grimm, was hit by a storm of cosmic rays on its test flight in space. When it crash landed back on earth, the four discovered that they each had gained super powers. Reed could stretch, twist and re-shape his body to in-human proportions, Ben was transformed into a monstrous humanoid with orange, rock-covered skin with incredible strength and durability. Sue was able to turn herself invisible and create forcefeilds. Johnny could cover himself with flames as well as fly. They decide to call themselves the Fantastic Four and use their abilities to protect mankind.
